It’s Good To Know You Love God

Testimonial by Max

Some might call me an introvert, and they’re probably right. As weird as it sounds, one of my favorite things to do is spend time outside alone with my thoughts. Some days bring productive and deep thoughts while others stay closer to the surface. About a week ago, however, I was reminded of a deep, deep truth that ignites that flame of faith within me: "I truly love God."

Perhaps, like me, you've hesitated to entertain such a thought, fearing the trappings of hypocrisy. After all, isn't it safer to meditate on God's boundless love for us rather than focusing on our love for Him? It's a valid question with a nuanced answer. Consider this: which brings you greater encouragement—knowing you have received the grace of God or recognizing that His grace has transformed you?

Through the grace of God, we discover an abiding love for His name. Our affection flows solely because He first loved us, and the proof of His love manifests as our devotion to Him. It is this love that sets us apart from the world, drawing us towards the illuminating light instead of the enshrouding darkness. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we strive for goodness, admittedly imperfect, yet undeniably genuine. Yet, let us give all glory to Jesus, for it is not I who live, but Christ who lives within me. Contemplating my love for God humbles me—it does not inflate my pride.

If you hold within your heart an unwavering love for God, take heart and sing as His beloved child, not as a mere beggar. Let your songs resound with the truth that freedom already reigns in your heart and soul. We have included a link to the song resources for Kate White's captivating hymn, "Freedom Reigns," which will help you proclaim this truth through music. Whether you lead it in your congregation, fill your living room with its melodies, or simply listen during your daily commute, we hope this song strengthens your love for God.
