Our Interview with Abi Oles!
Hello and happy Friday!
Abi Oles is set to release a new extended version of “Surely” on October 25th. For those who don’t know, “Surely” was first released as a single in 2021, and the song testifies to the goodness, mercy, and healing she experienced from God during her fight with breast cancer. This new version takes listeners on a lyrical, emotional, and sonic journey as they contemplate longer on God’s faithful hand in their life.
Seeing as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Abi thought it would be the perfect time to release the extended version and tell us more about her story and artistry in the weeks leading up.
When asked why she wanted to record and release an extended version, Abi said:
"The vocals from this release were actually from 2021, when we began to record for the EP. It was the last thing we did. I felt like the Holy Spirit was putting it on my heart to use the “Surely” song as a kind of medicine where people could play it over their anxiety... and literally turn up the music louder than the thoughts in their head, louder than the chatter, and walk away from that moment or that song and feel renewed, refreshed, restored, ready for the day or ready for the next moment because their hope was renewed in the process…
We’re hoping that this could be a moment that you can jump into and experience the presence of God and be reminded of his faithfulness."
